Uni-Power on Standby

Uni-Mails plans to run completely on renewable energy has had a spanner (or a helicopter!) thrown in the works!

With R.A.F. Benson a stones throw away, the M.O.D. feel that to have a wind turbine on site will interfere too much with their radar!

Carbon Neutral ? Even Better Than That !

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009

We have already mentioned some of the things we have done here to try to reduce our carbon footprint. Well, according to our own calculations we are pleased to say that we are now CARBON NEGATIVE !

Sarah and Tony have planted over 2000 native trees on two and a half hectares of land which, according to figures supplied by The Woodland Trust, is enough to offset 800% of the atmospheric CO2 that their business produces.

You can estimate your carbon footprint on several sites including Carbon Neutral and if you are interested in the concept of tree planting one place you could check out is The Woodland Trust

In addition to this, it is also great news that Aidan took part in Tree O’Clock at the weekend! His group planted 402 native trees in 1 hour! Tree O’Clock is the time when (BBC) Breathing Places will be attempting to break 2 world records for the number of trees planted in one hour. This Friday will show the results, so we will keep you updated when all the counts are in.

We wondered how many of you are thinking about this? Please do let us know.

After the Christmas break Kerry Bear will be leaving us! Not forever, just for 2 months while we all enjoy a well deserved break whilst she is in beautiful Australia. We’re currently interviewing for her temporary replacement so don’t worry, your mailings won’t be affected!
